Happy Birthday

Last Sunday, on the 27th of January Alex had a birthday =) (btw, my grandpa had his birthday on Friday so hurrah to him too)
I am actually proud of myself for what I had for him as a present, I mean I really wanted to do something great and sweet at the same time and it turned out that I did just fantastic =)
Ok, now, I've made a pancake-cake =) It was hard to arrange, so that Alex would not be suspicious of anything because we don't cook at the dorm, we have the cafeteria to feed us, so there is no kitchen where I could have fried pancakes. I was lucky though, because my classmate agreed to help me at her place the day before. However I had a very little time to make this cake and be back to the dorm to meet Alex.

The recipe:
a bunch of thin Russian pancakes;

two types of layers:
1 - Nutella!
2 - handmade whip cream with the bananas
It awesome, trust me! Despite that it may look not really appetizing.

On the day of the actual birthday I woke up really early to get to Alex's dorm earlier that he though I would and make him a surprise.
I ask the guard of his dorm to let me in despite that I am a stranger (usually you have to be with the one who actually lives in the dorm to be in, so that the guard could make a note about a guest and see the IDs). He eagerly agreed when I said that my friend had a birthday and I want to make a surprise.
So that's how I got in. Later, when I was on the 9th floor I texted Alex about a flesh-drive in his pocket. This is another "surprise". On this flesh-drive there was a video that I've made about us, how we've met and other stuff like that. The video goes on for 10 minutes and the last thing that he saw was a phrase that asked him to find me. And I was just right by the door. =) He opened the door (well, he didn't quiet believed that I was in the dorm, so I had to knock when he didn't opened it right away) and saw me standing there with a cake and candle(well, I gotta made some light)....

I also had a t-shirt that I gave to him later. I've painted it myself. Now I want to paint more t-shirts...

There was no party,we just spend the day together and it was a blast, coz we don't have much time together with all my dorm rules - to be there at 6 in the evening. We went for a walk, ordered some sushi, watched Madagascar and Supernatural series, ate cake, drank coffee and tea, hanged out with Alex's roommates.

Winter

I guess that we had our first snow this year in November, I heard that there was a snowfall in Texas too, although I want you to know how it looks like when there are tons of snow outside and it's freezing.

Newsletter

Well, well, well...
This week probably was nothing, but math and books. The deal is almost the whole my class failed math exam. There are 18 people and only three of them had a decent mark. The math exam was before the winter break, but this Tuesday we had "a second chance".  I did fine this time, although some people will have "the last chance" next week and I truly wish them luck, because I like them and don't want to loose them in the middle of the year, before we are actually going to be separated    and enter a new life.

After I was done with math I dived into The Hunger Games. I watched the movie when I was on the break and then I decided that it would be interesting to read the full version.  I mean that books usually provide more information. I was kinda hesitating about reading, because I've read some reviews and not all of them were positive. Then I realized that listening to other people's reviews is not a good idea at all. I would actually advice it to y'all. When you are thinking weather to read a book or not just do it. Tastes differ. So if you wouldn't like it just close it and take another one. Once, I heard that life's too short to spend it on bad reading. Btw, that what my classmate actually did with the third book of Hunger Games. =) Anyway, for now I've read the 1st book and I'm starting the 2nd one. If somebody wants to discuss - I'm ready for anybody.
In addition, I'm reading in English. We have it translated too, but after I read a few pages in Russian I understood that it's not...quiet right and I wasn't mistaken, coz in English it's much better and nicer. I can't explain it. It just feels very nice and tremulous to me and closer to the US somehow with all the missing stuff. It also develops my vocabulary =) Plus, language is that sort of thing that is not repeatable. I mean, of course you can translate books, but it's another task to interpret the style of author, the power of the certain language. If you know what I mean.

Today, after school I went to the mall with Alex. It took us a long ride, though it was worth it, kind of... I bought a new pair of pants, the red ones, some other stuff and batteries for my camera. My camera was out of order for a while, I finally decided that I need to do something with it and even bought good expensive batteries and then, what a bummer, it's still not working =( My last hope is that I need to change one last tiny battery. If it's not going to work either, then I'm desperate, coz Alex's birthday is next weekend and I was planning on taking some pictures.
Btw, my grandpa's b-day is on 25th of January, unfortunately I won't be at home for it.
See y'all soon.

The Storm

I was missing almost the half of the year and since I am back(I hope I will keep it on) I feel that I need to write about those months when I was absent.

Well, the beginning of the school year was very exciting, because I met my classmates again after a big break. We all changed a little(or not) during the summer, so it was cool to compare pictures from last 1st September and the current one.

What's more important is that we feel much more closer now, we became not just classmates, but friends. That's why we started to be very serious about each other birthdays. I can't say that it's about ALL of us, but most of us - yes.
There are 3 people in my class that were born in 1994, including me(therefore they had 18th birthday in 2012).  We've made 18 best wishes come true for Polina(you can find her in a sea-blue sweater on the picture on the right) during the school day. She had me playing the guitar in the morning, boys dancing for her(appropriately of course), memorable presents from us, even a doll-prince "driving" a car in the school cafeteria. But what's more interesting - we've made a movie for her. Well, it's just a video clip with our wishes and some daily moments, but that's how our "movie industry" started. We realized how cool is to get a memorable video-clip for your birthday. Since then we've made video clips for each birthday we had in our company.
Of course we didn't stop with it, we danced outside by the girl's window in the morning. Unfortunately we didn't video that, but it was hilarious, because it was winter already, so we were in big coats - it made us a bit clumsy, plus, when we danced, suddenly, a car appeared and we were on it's way. The car insisted on moving forward by beeping, but we couldn't stop dancing, so we had to improvise to let the car move without breaking our idea.
We've made another girl run through the whole dorm and look for little presents and competitions. We've given a boy(he is a very sweet nerd) a beautiful red fish. Unfortunately, it didn't live long... We've made a New Year for the girl that doesn't like her birthday much. I am especially proud of this idea and the video we prepared, coz I was responsible. We had 4 videos, here are links on you-tube for two of them. There are the main video and a verse of Coca-cola advertisement that is very popular in Russia on New Year. The other ones are The Speech of The "President" (my classmate's speech  and a funny video about how we made everything. I won't upload them, because for most of my audience the speech will sound like "bla-kgorgaieajrngbsdfjafsnf" and the second one... well, we might have different types of humor, so y'all might not understand the jokes, plus you have to know the language, again =)

Soon, there will be another birthday and I'm responsible for videos too, but I'll show them later, after the actual birthday, until then - it's a secret. =)

Dedication

In the end of September or so, my class (11th Biological) went camping with 10th Biological and 9th Natural Scientific classes to dedicate them (new students) into their direction of studying. We've made competitions in the forest for them and pored a lot of flour on them. =)

 It was extremely fun =)

Anniversary

Well, maybe some of you noticed that I changed personal information on Facebook about a year ago. I mean I started dating Alex last year and I didn't post about it much. It's private, I guess =)
But I'll post some pix that we've made on our one year anniversary. That day I helped with 1st round of FLEX competition, when I was done I went outside where Alex waited for me with roses, we went to the restaurant and then hanged out in the park. It was a lovely day.
He gave me a wonderful present - red little guitar, although he couldn't wait, so I got a weak before =)
I had a black classy hat for him and 366 paper cranes which now hang over his bank bad in his dorm.

The lull before the storm

The whole country has days off until the 9th of January, except shop assistants and drivers and some other people who are important for humanity, so they can't stop working.
I know that it's my fault that nothing interesting is happening, but in reality I'm too lazy to do anything. I only needed this "vacation" some sweets, good movies and of course to meet my friends whom I haven't seen for a while. Besides, sometimes I'm making cards and studying math. Sometimes...
Tomorrow I am going back to the dorm and the last step of being at school starts - preparations for the REAL exams that will bring me in college. As well as in the US, the higher score - the better university, the higher chances to get full scholarship.

Here is the card I've made to a girl that lived by me in the dorm last year. Her name is Alexandra and she is very sweet. But I am not really, coz sometimes I forget to wish Happy Birthday to people I like.
In addition, New Year is a great holiday for us, so I decided to unite those two holidays in one card.
It's 2in1. From one side it wishes her Happy Birthday and when you open it you can read the begging of the message. But you can open it from the other side as well, and then it wishes her A Happy New Year and when you open it - the message that have started before continues.

Back from Moscow

Today I hanged out with my friend Anastasiya who is studying now at university in Moscow. She is back in Nizhniy Tagil for the winter break(as well as me).  Here is a Christmas card that I gave to her. We had a nice pleasant girl-time together and I am looking forward to see her again this spring or summer.

The Engagement

Yesterday I put stats of being engaged with my dear friend Alex on Facebook and Russian social network. The difference between those is that nobody made a deal out of it on Russian network, but on Facebook..
=)
Therefore I believe that y'all need a little bit of explanation.

Usually, the wedding follows the engagement, but those of y'all who know me should  understand that I don't do anything  "as it should be" or in a normal way =)
There is no wedding till at least we won't have some base for life together.
The fact that we are engaged (that sounds so serious) is just for us. It's a promise to each other. My ring is classy and simple, but I don't need something that shines brighter.

In Russia, people might have another views concerning marriage. Well, I think that marriage is for government to make an official state that you have a reason to be with a person. People could just live together and love each other and it wouldn't matter if they are married or not. Maybe some people think that marriage gives you stability or some privileges, it depends on a person. But as for me, one of the reasons why we will make our relationship official is the dress. =) Y'all know how I love dresses =)
